Griffey and the Infiniti

June 25, 2007 cobalt45xy Leave a comment

Yesterday the SU and I spent the afternoon at the Mariners game. I finally got to see one of my childhood favorites play because Ken Griffey Jr was back in town with the Cincinnati Reds. Griffey was one of the guys that you tried to model your game after when you were playing little league. He would swing the bat like nobody else, steal bases, and make the fantastic catches too. He was an all around player when I was a kid. I was very excited to see the game and he didn’t disappoint. In his first at bat he hit a homer to left center and the crowd went mostly nuts. There were those fans that booed but the majority of the people were happy for Griffey. The next time up he drilled a pitch over the right field wall and bounced it off of a sign on the second deck. The crowd really went berserk when did that one. It was one of those that you knew it was gone as soon as it left the bat. We had a great time and we also witnessed a rarity in baseball. The Mariners managed to pull off a suicide squeeze to grab the lead in the 7th inning. I’ve never seen that work before in person. With his second homer, he managed to pass Mark McGwire on the all time home run list. Griffey also made a couple of spectacular catches in right field that were just down right jaw dropping. We had a great time and we’re hoping to go again soon.

This morning I went out and got in the car to go to work and as soon as I put the car in gear and started to move I knew something was wrong. I hopped out and discovered that my rear tire on the drivers side was completely flat. I backed up the car very slowly and put it back in the parking spot and proceeded to look for the tire changing equipment. Now, those of you who know me realize that this is a bad situation. I’ve been banned from changing tires on the Mazda because I dropped the Venture off of the jack when I attempted to change a flat tire. We don’t have roadside assistance any more and since we paid $200 for the Infiniti I decided that I was going to try and do it myself anyway. After I carefully studied the equipment and discovered the proper jack points I secured the car by putting it in park with the e-brake on. Then I used the blocks that came with the car and put them in front of the front wheels and proceeded to jack up the car. After struggling with the lug nuts I finally got them off. One of them was on so tight I didn’t think I was going to be able to get it off. The SU was outside supervising in case something happened and she was amazed at how hard it was to get it off. I managed to get the flat off without dropping the car off of the jack but I realized I didn’t jack the car up high enough to put the spare on so I had to jack it up some more. I finally got the spare on and tightened the lug nuts in a cross pattern (4 bolt lugs on this baby) and lowered the car off of the jack. I stood back in amazement and rejoiced that I actually changed a tire using the proper jacking point without damaging the car or hurting myself. After spending an hour and $85 dollars on a new tire at Discount Tire I was finally able to make my way into the office. It turns out that our tires are leaking air because the chrome is peeling and therefore pushing the rubber back and created the air leaks. We’ll eventually need to get new wheels for the Infiniti. Ebay/Craigslist here we come.

T-Minus 3 days till the move.

I’m so mad I could scream. First this, then this happened a couple of days go, and now today I read this. I can’t believe it and I don’t want to believe it. Somebody pinch me and tell me this is all a dream. Really, please do it now, I beg you.

Dammit, dammit, dammit.

Golf Results and the Upcoming Weekend

June 22, 2007 cobalt45xy 3 comments

Golfing went great on Wednesday. I shot 61 (on 9 holes) which is the best score I’ve had yet. With my handicap it means I would have shot a 35. (Yeah, I know my handicap sucks.) I hit some great shots and if I can get the short game stuff figured out I’ll be in pretty good shape. I hit some perfect drives right down the middle but then messed it up by hitting the next shots out of bounds or into a hazard. Golf can be a frustrating game at times. Either way, I have fun playing and its a chance to get outside and leave work at the office and have a good time.

The impending move is less than a week away. It’ll be nice to finally be out of the apartment and have a place to park the cars without having to worry about whether or not there’s a parking spot. I think I’m mostly looking forward to being able to give the Mazda a proper wash and detail so I can get rid of those nasty water spots and swirl marks. Once that’s done we can park the car in the garage and not have to worry about water sprinklers or whatever.

The crumbsnatchers are off with the nanny tomorrow so the SU and I were going to hit Ikea after they take off because they’re having a big sale tomorrow. After that, we’ll be headed back home to finish packing, moving boxes around, dismantling beds, and cleaning up.

Fun with Craigslist

June 19, 2007 cobalt45xy Leave a comment

I was poking around on Craigslist this morning and I discover this ad: Link (not sure how link this will work)

Im looking a 3000gt
94 or newer
automatic
would like to be turbo or DOHC, both would be nice.
I would like to trade for one
What i have is https://post.craigslist.org/manage/354893244/epend
or
How much you want for yours

Now, the funny part is, when you post on Craigslist you get an email that contains an ad publishing link which is the link that is posted in the above ad. You aren’t supposed to post that link because then it gives anyone the ability to modify your post which I am sure has happened to his other ad.

Here’s the actual ad that he’s posted: Link

NEED TO SELL ASAP!!!!
I’M A HUGE FUCKING DOUCHE BAG!!! I WILL TAKE IT IN THE ASS FOR A TRADE PLEASE PUT YOUR DICK IN ME!! I NEED IT BAD!! I ESPECIALLY LIKE BIG BLACK COCKS TO TEAR MY ASS UP! MAYBE WE CAN GET A GANGBANG GOING, THE MORE THE MERRIER. BRING YOUR GAY ASS FRIENDS AND USE ALL OF MY HOLES! I’m selling my Camaro, it has the lt1 5.7liter 350 vette engine and i’ve decided to try something new. Here’s a list of somethings done to it, it has tinted windows, after market cool-air intake, newer alpine stereo, cooling system flushed, just put $1000+ under the hood fixing everything. The only thing it needs now is to be plugged into a diagnostic computer and have the timing reset, it is the computer in the car telling it to fire at the wrong time, so right now it will not start, or its the distrubtor which im havin done, that is what is most likely the problem. After that is done its one hell of amzaing car.
The interior is cherry and it has t-tops, they don’t leak at all, it has power windows and locks, it’s red with black interior, it has 157,000 miles and has been serviced on schedule. This car is in immaculate condition and is an awesome car, it’s really comfortable and is extremely fast, keyless entry. I’m interested in selling it, but would prefer to trade it for something different. thanks for your time and i look forward to your reply. For trade I’m interested in 3000gt, 300zx, supra,or anything else like that, but if not i’m lookin for something around $5500 out of it. thanks, jj. NEED TO SELL ASAP

Bwahahahahahaha!!! That should teach you to post your managing link on the Internet.

This has got to be the best Senior Prank Ever!!

June 15, 2007 cobalt45xy 1 comment

I went to drop Crumbsnatcher #1 off at school today and Tom (the jack of trades guy who works at the school) stops us and says, “We’re two hours late for school today due to vandalism.”

“Ok thanks” I said. We turned around and went home. This folks, has got to be the best senior prank I have ever heard of. Apparently, someone or a lot of people, broke into the School Districts bus barn and deflated ALL the tires on EVERY SINGLE BUS. With no buses available to pick kids up they had no choice but to delay school. If only my senior class had thought to do something as cool as that.

No golfing stories this week….

June 14, 2007 cobalt45xy 2 comments

The SU and I spent last night at the Seattle Temple instead. It was definitely worth it because it made me reflect on the things I said I would do and what I will gain because of it.

And, it made me miss my baby girl a ton. I thought about her a lot last night. It didn’t help that I was looking at what we had recorded on the camcorder last night and I stumbled across the video of me holding her and then the three of us being on the bed together in the hospital on the day she left us. As an aside, I think I looked like crap on the video. I looked like I was beaten down, tired, stressed, and scared which is probably normal given the circumstances. Either way, yesterday wasn’t the greatest of days for either of us but today is looking a little better.

I’ve got the Father and Son’s camp out tomorrow night and Saturday morning and I’m really looking forward to it even though I don’t have a son. I’ve had some people ask me why I’m not volunteering to take a kid who doesn’t have a dad. Here’s my reasons for not doing it:

When my dad was MIA for three or four years and people did it to me I always felt awkward, weird, depressing and I hated it. There I was at the Father and Son’s camp out with some guy I barely knew when all the other kids were there with their Dads. The only time it didn’t feel awkward was when I specifically asked to be paired up with my home teacher because he had known me for years. That being said, I don’t want to take a kid I don’t know anything about and put him into an awkward situation and make him watch everybody else with their Dad’s having a good time. It’s not fun and its not fair either.

So, I’m going to go enjoy myself, sit by the fire, cook up some stuff (or maybe I’ll stop at McDonalds on the way out of town), see if I can help cook breakfast Saturday morning (tradition in my old ward), and head home Saturday afternoon. It’ll be nice to get away from the girls for a while. (There. I said it. You all knew I was thinking it. Now I can get ready to sleep on the couch tonight.)

Why don’t people just follow the rules?

June 11, 2007 cobalt45xy 1 comment

So, I got home from work today expecting the assigned, numbered slot to be open since the SU would have parked the Mazda in an un-numbered slot and lo and behold some idiot has parked their big, old, ugly 1990s Ford F150 in my spot. This idiot, happens to be a resident downstairs and has been here long enough to know that you DON’T park in someone else’s NUMBERED, ASSIGNED spot for ANY reason but they decided to anyway. I grumbled and called them a multitude of names and drove my car and parked over in the north 40s instead. I thought about parking right behind them and their numbered slot so they couldn’t go anywhere and waiting for them to come knock on my door and I’d say, “A white Infiniti M30? It’s not mine, I don’t know who’s it is. I guess you’ll just have to wait until someone moves it. What’s that you say? You have to leave? Sucks to be you dude.”

I wish people would just follow the darn rules and park where they’re supposed to and everybody would be happy.

Mazda BBQ and the rain…

June 11, 2007 cobalt45xy 1 comment

The Mazda 6 Club bbq was on Saturday and typical Seattle weather prevailed. We were rained on all day with the exception of about 30 minutes where it stopped. Cold, gray, and overcast all day. I met some nice people and got re-acquainted with some of the guys I met at the Corksport thing last year. I forgot to take pictures so I’ll have to see if the SU took any that I can post. I do have some of Snoqualmie Falls though. We drove out with another family who were in visiting from Vancouver BC and had a really good time.

The best part of the whole thing is that the SU said I could get a spoiler, grille, and eyelids for the car. Yay!!! So I guess after we move and finally get things all straightened out and we can save up some money I’ll be doing that after the car gets a proper wash (damn those waterspots!!). I had the only blue Mazda 6 and several people said they had wanted a Blue one and how lucky I was to get one. I also won the booby prize (there was no prize, hahaha) for being the most “stock”.

Which brings me to another random thought. They call nascar stock car racing but how can they call it stock car racing when the cars are no where close to being stock?

T-Minus 16 days until the impending move.

Ducks win the Cup and I….

lose my mind golfing. Congratulations to the Anaheim Ducks for winning the Stanley Cup. The coolest part of that was the Niedermayer brothers being able to lift the cup together. It’s pretty rare that something like that happens.

I had golf last night and I sucked royally. I shot 77 on 9 holes. I was hooking shots to the left and slicing them to the right, hitting the top of the ball, 4 putting, it was pretty sad. Regardless, I still love playing and I’m signed up again next week.

The kids are counting the days left till the end of school and I’m counting the number of days I have left till the 16th which is like a week away virtually. I’m under the gun at work trying to get things done on time. I’ll git r done.

Saturday we have the Mazda 6 Club Seattle Barbecue and I’m way pumped even though its supposed to be typical nasty Seattle weather. Cold and drizzle. Snoop Dogg should move to Seattle fo’ shizzle my nizzle because of the drizzle. Hahahahahaha….

Oh, and, hockey is really done in Lubbock. The fat lady progressed from warming up to singing an aria yesterday. So long Cotton Kings, I’ll always remember the fun I had at the games and now my jersey has become a real collectors item.
