I don’t know what I was thinking…

The SU and I were getting into bed the other night and we were laying there talking to each other. The conversation went something like this:

“I told Jerry that I wouldn’t be at church on the 21st of October.”

“Did he ask why?”

“No.”

“What are we going to do on her birthday? I want to at least go to her grave.”

“We’ll go visit her grave but I can’t bear to eat cake. I won’t want cake ever again if I eat it on her birthday.”

The SU proceeds to burst into tears and wails, “I just want my baby back!!”

My eyes tear up a little but I’m starting to grin really big. The SU wipes her eyes and says, “What’s so funny?”

I smile and say, “All I could think of when you said I want my baby back is ‘Chili’s baby back ribs, barbecue sauce!’”

Now that could have gone one of two ways, it could have made a delicate situation much worse for being insensitive but it did the total opposite. The SU burst into laughter mixed with sobbing and she said to me, “Thank you for making me laugh.”

As hard as its going to be on the 21st of October I hope I’m able to lighten the day with some well placed humor. If I had to pick which day I think will be harder between October 21st and January 4, I think I’d pick January 4th. I guess I’ll find out when those days get here.

I love the idea of the iPhone and would probably buy one except for the fact that it doesn’t work on T-Mobile and that you can’t install third party apps without some hacking.

Also, watch the University of Oregon Ducks’ mascot whoop up on the Houston Cougar’s mascot.
