After church

My favorite thing to do after I get home from church is to change clothes as quickly as I can. I don’t know why I do that but I generally don’t do anything else until I’ve changed. Today, I put on a T-shirt and some pants and walked into the kitchen. Suddenly, I realize something isn’t right with my pants but I couldn’t quite figure it out. I reached down to feel in my back pockets and felt something bunchy down there.

“Did I give myself a wedgie?” I thought. No, I couldn’t have done that.

The SU is standing behind me a few feet away and I say to her, “Something is in my pants and it doesn’t feel right.”

“What?”

I reach my hand inside my pants near my rear area and I feel a sock. I pull the sock out and show it to her and say, “I just pulled a sock out of my ass!”

(If its not funny, I guess its one of those you had to be there moments.)

Edit: I forgot to post about my birthday. We didn’t make it to the hockey game because they sold out. We’ll buy well in advance next time. These are my presents: 4GB iPod Nano (fatty edition) and my T-Mobile Shadow. They rock! We ended up not seeing a chick flick either. (awww no boobies) The SU made me my most favorite kind of meatballs and they were scrumdiddlyumptious.

Fun times can be had…

when you drive down the freeway doing 70 with all the windows in the car rolled down in 55 degree weather. The Artist and The Gamer thought that was the best thing ever. I have to admit that it was fun and it was cheap.

My shoulder has been killing me lately. I’m not sure if I slept on it wrong or if I knocked it out of socket or what but it hurts sometimes. Because of that, I’ve gone on IR for church basketball and won’t be playing for a while because of it. It seems like it’s getting better and I’m trying not to sleep on it. Either way, I hope its better by the time golfing season starts.

Church Basketball

February 1, 2008 cobalt45xy 1 comment

What is it about basketball at church that brings out the worst in some people? Is it the fact that we’re men and bred to be competitive and always win?

I had a basketball game tonight and for the most part it was good except for the fact that we had 15 guys show up. We’ve never had that many show up, ever. I guess it helps that it was at our building and not somewhere else. During the game things got somewhat heated between a member of the other team and one of ours. We have referees but they’re volunteers and quite frankly they only call something if its totally blatant and even then they get about 1 out of 8 calls. There was some talking back and forth and some physical play out on the court but it never escalated above just words. To me, it just seems silly to get all bent out of shape over a game that doesn’t matter anyway. It’s not like we’re in the NBA finals or something.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that the other team only had 6 guys and they’re undefeated. I don’t know. We had a couple of guys on our team get upset with each other and I never understand that. It’s a team game. We win as a team and we lose as a team. It takes me back to the time I was playing baseball when I was 14. I managed to get on a really good team that year and we ended up going undefeated and winning the city championship. During a game, when we were out on the field,  a couple of the guys on the bench had a fist fight in the dugout. I couldn’t believe it.

It didn’t quite come to blows tonight like it did when I was playing baseball, but there were definitely some unhappy campers. Yes, if you’re wondering we lost the game 58-53. I guess what I’m getting at is that if 15 people are going to show up to play then all 15 of us need to show up at practice so we can learn how each other plays. Otherwise, we’ll just kind of have to guess and we’ll never win that way.
